In 2006 my boyfriend at the time moved into a duplex with his brother and his girlfriend. His brother and girlfriend signed the lease. Fast forward about year later, the brother and girlfriend broke up, my boyfriend and I got married and I moved in. I never saw the original lease when I moved in 2008. Also, in 2007, the duplex was sold and we got new owners who honored the original signed lease. In 2008 I got a phone call from the new owner that we were delinquent on the garbage bill and it had not been paid. Not knowing the original terms of the lease, I paid the garbage and have been since Jan 2008.
Now we are moving out of the duplex and I asked the property management company who the new owners had hired, if I could get a copy of the original lease. I saw on the lease that Utilities included in rent: water, sewage, garbage. Can I get the owners to pay back what I have been paying for the past two years since it says on the least that garbage is included in our rent?
