Been out of work almost 8 Months. Unfortunately my last 2 jobs did not last long. One was for 10 months the other for 11months. The one in 2008 was a travel agency(I was a travel agent for over 15years) closed. The one in 2009 was a property management co and alot of his places were for rent so he fired 1/2 his staff me being one of them(He laid off someone who was there 8 years ) prior to that I was a manager of a travel agency for 8 years but after 9/11 business went down but we managed to survive for Years until our 2nd biggest account got bought out (1st biggest one went out of business after 9/11) the owner could not fund it anymore so we closed.
I feel like I have 2 short term jobs I look like a hopper which I am not. These are legitimate reasons why my last 2 jobs did not last long and i can get references from all of them. I Need a job this month or I am in deep trouble. I am applying to jobs that are even 10.00 an hour to just make it. I have unemployment only till March but I would love to have a job this week and go off the unemployment. anyone have any good suggestions? No spam or at home work things I will just report you. Thanks
If I do a cover letter to explain how do I word it -being at 2 jobs short term? get calls and interviews but I feel like when I say I got laid off due to lack of business they dont believe me. My former boss will give me a reference and I do put him down.

AFTER A decade of high-speed growth, the motor industry hit a wall in 2009. The impact was head-on – and bloody. New cars sales fell 62 per cent, more than 70 businesses closed, and an estimated 10,000 jobs – nearly a quarter of the motor-related …

I cannot hold a job for more than a month or 3 months maximum since my last 5year long term employer. I don’t get fired, just laid off. I cannot stand this anymore and it is making me feel like a looser, as if I am doing something wrong. It does not look good when it looks like I am a job hopper. That is the last thing I wanted to show on my resume. I am currently going to college as a criminal justice major. The jobs I have held in the past were retail, restaurants, and property management. The property management position was my longest career. Ever since, is where I feel cursed. As if I am not destined to find a long term career anymore. I feel lost and do not even know where I fit now. I do not even know where to look in my job search now. I am almost afraid to try again to find I get rejected or not have the job long. I am a sweet person, easy to get along with, a very hard worker, and loyal to any employer that comes along my way. I also train very fast compared to others in training. Basically, anything thrown in front of me to learn, I learn easily.

Any suggestions? Should I try a career counselor? If so, how do I go about finding one?
Thanks to all of you and your responses! I’m grateful to know I’m not the only one experiencing this. You all provided encouragement too. Sounds like this employment world is not as easy as it used to be. It is much tougher now, but it cannot be like this forever. I just have to keep my faith, keep looking, and will find myself some where working some day soon.
